Village Art Project
Over the summer a group of people from Grace Church held a once a week collaborative art program for youth at the Mount Pleasant Mobile Home Village. Kids ages 7-15 were invited to come and learn how to express themselves in a positive way through art. Kids ages 6 and under also had the opportunity to come and do some basic art projects such as watercolor painting, coloring and even play-doh.

The theme for the first four weeks of the Village Art Project (VAP) was "Express Yourself" which focused on learning how to express emotions through art. Projects included canvas painting, acting, photography, and mosaic stepping stones. At the end of the fourth week we all took a trip to the Grand Rapids Art Museum for a day of fun and learning!
The theme of the last three weeks of the VAP was "Celebrate Different" where we focused on learning how to appreciate differences amongst ourselves and others. These projects included creating collages, painting the same object from different angles, and playing in a drum circle. The kids spent much time and effort on each of these projects and are pleased to present them to the community today.
